"In recent years, the boundaries between art and food have blurred, with the crossover now giving rise to London’s first fair dedicated entirely to the two. Guzzle spoke to the founder and partnerships manager behind Food Art Fair to learn more about the pilot edition and its extensive programme of events taking place this weekend.

Guzzle: What first drew you to the relationship between food and art?

DD: In one sense, the relationship between food and art is something we’ve all known since childhood – playing with food, moulding it, and making splatter paintings is a very universal childhood experience. In another sense, my work in hospitality, particularly in restaurant concepting, has allowed me to witness how art and design can completely change how guests experience food."

"Henry: What part of yourself do you feel is most misunderstood?

Dhruv: I feel like my friends who are in the corporate world view me as very bohemian, whereas my friends who are creatives view me as much more corporate. It is hard to situate oneself firmly in the centre of both worlds, though I find it incredibly valuable and fulfilling to attempt to.

Henry: What’s a very small hill you’re willing to die on?

Dhruv: Form over function (if you can’t have both)."

"Last night Incubator and the Poetry Bank co-hosted a poetry evening coinciding with ‘The Great Bambino’, a show of works by artist Orfeo Tagiuri.

Poets Nicole Della Costa, James Massiah, Phonex Yemi, Sonny Hall and Dhruv Duggal read pieces that responded to Orfeo’s works, and the artist himself performed an a cappella piece that he had written.

Orfeo’s show, which contains stained birch panels that the artist has intricately hand-etched to depict scenes of personal reminiscence and reflection, is on view until the 27th of October at Incubator, the gallery run by Angelica Jopling on Chiltern Street in London."
